Day 59 - Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice-cream

I had dinner at my Auntie's house last night and dessert was Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice-cream.

It was made with Snow Apples, a small variety with white flesh and was very good, though I did have to go a double scoop of Ice-cream!

Day 58 - Viennetta Challenge

Day 58 - Viennetta Challenge, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

7 People, 8 Viennettas and 1.5 Litres of Jelly...

Tonight's challenge was Viennetta. I originally put myself down for 2 Viennettas in 10mins but it turned out to be a struggle just to finish both, ending up with a time of 21mins40sec.

Pity the amount of calories in 2 Viennettas would take about 20km to run off, and that would certainly take me longer than 21mins40sec!

Day 57 - Super Pancakes at Mosskito

I went to Mosskito in Clifton Hill for brunch today.

I ordered the "Super Pancakes" with Maple syrup expecting a stack but instead receiving a giant pizza sized single mega pancake with a grapefruit sized scoop of vanilla icecream.

Very, very good.

Day 56 - Burger with "the Lot"

Day 56 - Burger with "the Lot", originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Homeward bound hamburgers in Ararat on the way back from the Grampians.

This is a "Burger with the Lot" although apparently pineapple isn't part of "the Lot" and is 0.55c extra! Go Figure.

Day 55 - Camping Sandwiches

Grilled Eggplant Dip, Fresh Tomato, Cheese, Mixed Greens, Salami, Ham on Rye.... Terrific!

Day 54 - Ballarat Fish and Chips

Day 54 - Ballarat Fish and Chips, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

The late departure from Melbourne meant that it was better to grab dinner on the way to the Grampians instead of trying to cook at 11pm when we arrived.

Day 53 - The Cosmopolitan Beef Burger

I split half a Beef Burger and half a Lamb, Rosemary and Fetta Pizza with an old friend for an early dinner at The Cosmopolitan.

Day 52 - Baked Penne Bolognese

Day 52 - Baked Penne Bolognese, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Also served with Tuna Mornay, Green Salad and Ciabatta.

Day 51 - Beef and Burgundy Pot Pie

A great incarnation in which the beef was thinly sliced instead of in chunks. The tomato chutney and leafy salad were great accompaniments.

Day 50 - Monday Night Spaghetti

Day 50 - Monday Night Spaghetti, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Monday night Spaghetti has been a long running tradition in our house and tonight was no different. I always like a mix of the beef and the vegetarian sauces topped with parmesan cheese

Day 48 - Barbecue Banquet

Day 48 - Barbecue Banquet, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

All the family came round to our house for dinner and the natural choice was a barbecue. Sausages, skewers and lamb and pork chops and a couple of salads. That feast and four cakes later I was filled to bursting!

Day 47 - Blueberry Yoghurt Cake and Mandarin Polenta

Afternoon Coffee and Cake at Mixed Business in North Fitzroy.

Day 46 - Subway

Day 45 - Spanakopita

Day 45 - Spanakopita, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Tonight I made Spanakopita following my father's family recipe. Young Spinach, Feta Cheese, Mozzarella, Spring Onions, Home-grown Basil and Oregano and Black Pepper. Topped with many layers of Filo Pastry, all individually oiled so they're separate, golden, crispy and delicious.

It was so good.

Day 44 - Barbecue

Day 44 - Barbecue, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Barbecue for dinner tonight. The burgers on the left are Lamb, Garlic and Basil Burgers. On the right Onion, Eggs and Bacon.

Day 43 - Bimbo Deluxe Caesar Pizza

Bimbo Deluxe on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy serves $4 Pizza all Weekday Lunchtimes and Sunday-Thursday Nights. What makes it an amazing deal, however, is the wonderful array of pizzas that they serve.

We had the Agnello: Spiced lamb with sultanas and pine nuts topped with fresh rocket; the Zucchine: Shaved Zucchini with mozzarella and semi-sun-dried tomatoes; and the classic Caesar: Caesar Salad on a pizza.

Day 42 - Spicy Mince Pork and Noodles

Dinner at a Shanghaiese Restaurant we used to frequent quite often back in our Uni days. Great food and huge servings.

Appetizers before the main Barbecue and Cocktail event.

Day 40 - Hamburger and a Dim Sim

Day 40 - Hamburger and a Dim Sim, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Friday nights are usually fish and chip night but I decided to go for the Hamburger with lettuce, tomato, bacon and beetroot instead of my normal Flake and Chips.

Day 39 - Vanilla Slice

Delicious! And a great way to follow up the steak pie I had for lunch.

Day 38 - Homemade Pizza

Day 38 - Homemade Pizza, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

When my family makes home-made pizza generally they use Turkish bread as the base. This makes for a super thick and delicious crust. Some of the ingredients on my pizza included: hot salami, semi-sun dried tomatoes, marinated artichokes, capsicum, fresh tomato, garlic, mushroom, olives and home-grown basil!

Day 37 - $5 Fish and Chips

with Mayo bought from Woolworth's!

Day 36 - Rasin Toast and Orange Juice

After being disappointed with the Cereal option the first breakfast I decided to stick to Raisin Toast with lots of butter for the remainder of the days!

Day 35 - Late night Icecream

Day 35 - Late night Icecream, originally uploaded by JoeGray.

Instead of the cone option we went for the big tub. We wanted to choose flavours that would work together and ended up with Caramel and Tiramisu. In the end these flavours were a little too similar and it was hard to tell them apart towards the end!
