Egg tarts are very popular in Hong Kong. I originally thought they were imported from Macau, where they were imported from Portugal (Macau being an ex-Portuguese colony), but Wikipedia tells me they may also have evolved from English custard tarts. No matter their history, they are rich, delicious and now, certainly part of Hong Kong culture.
